We Made It!!!
The Move 🚐
It was challenging packing our stuff from our old house and moving it into our storage unit. We did our best and we executed. At the beginning it seemed like, “It’ll be easy, we don’t have that much stuff.” But I learned there was more than I thought. Now at times I rather over-exaggerate than underestimate when it comes to packing 😆. We put 111% effort into the process.
I had to be very thoughtful about what to let go of and what to keep.
Everything I let go of went into the trash, the shredder, or donation pile.
Whatever I kept was either going to take up space in our storage unit or in my luggage.
We finally finished emptying the old house, stuffed our storage unit while packing our bags, and stayed at my parents’ house for a couple nights. Our family had a “Bon Voyage” party to send us off in good spirits and I had a really amazing time with everyone. My heart felt so full and I felt so much support from family.
Then, my parents took Mark and I to the airport.
(Can you guess my favorite color? 🤗)
With pearls dripping from my heart and a big smile on my face I announced,
“See you soon, Colombia 💕.”
Many ask, “Why Colombia? 🤔”
Our friends [who are also travelers] lived in Colombia for some time. They had a lot of good things to say about it so with that evidence, Mark and I decided to try this country out first.
Plus, we wanted to start off closer to home. Colombia is not super far from California. The flight between Colombia and California is about 10 hours with a connecting flight in between. I like that flights between my new home and my hometown won’t eat up the day— the flight time fits perfectly into an overnight endeavor. In comparison, Asia felt too far for our first destination (a flight from Cali to the Philippines is 18 hours on average!).
Finally, the time difference between Colombia and California is only 2 hours. It’s quite manageable to communicate with family with this time difference. It also felt like a safe-enough shift in terms of circadian rhythm and routine.
We made it to Medellín and drove to Sabaneta (25 minutes from Medellín) where our first home warmly welcomed us. 🤍
Money Talks 💸
We are investors and we run an online business. In both avenues, we generate money in United States Dollars (USD). The currency in Colombia is Colombian Pesos (COP). The exchange rate for USD to COP is high. In other words, our money goes such a long way in Colombia and we have the ability to generate money from wherever we are (i.e. Colombia).
Reflection 🌼
I’m soooooo grateful and proud of us for how far we’ve come. I remember in the old days we were stirring about perfecting our dynamic, seeking different ways to generate income, and having to hunker down in a house with roommates.
Today, we are financially independent— having time freedom and location freedom. All of our efforts go into our empire, and our empire only while every move my husband and I make is complimentary to each other.
Financial freedom, we’re coming for you next 😘.
I am eternally grateful that you are here. I love you & I believe in you. Keep tagging along on this journey of Life with me. I hope you are continuously inspired by what’s possible.
Love, Jessa 🤍
For you to read out loud:
My dreams matter and they get to come true
because my happiness is for the good of all humanity.
I see what’s possible.
I know my heart’s intentions.
And so I am worthy of every good thing happening for me.
